DIGITAL PROOFING there are numerous ways in which to digitally proof your files, but it all depends on the quality you wish to see on the proof. In the ideal world everyone would have a digital matchprint or cromalin machine to give you contract proofs to pass for press, but in reality not many companies can afford this. Some of the best quality proofs are from the range of six-colour inkjet plotters which can be bought at a reasonable cost. They are extremely fast and good enough to pass for press because the six-colour technology enables them to give a larger colour range and better gradients, creating a smoother colour transition for photo-quality results. These factors put them above normal inkjet and four colour proofers. They can all be ICC profiled to whatever output you wish, but even their own standard 3M Machprint Profiles are a great likeness to conventional contract proofs.
